January Morning

about

I wrote a song a while back griping about the snow in Wisconsin. I resented the fact that other people could go off and live exciting lives while I was stuck in the snow. I guess this song is about feeling stuck in the middle of a bunch of beautiful whirling snowflakes and being blind to the fact that you are one too.

lyrics

The flakes fly down south for the winter
The casualties fall to my cheeks
Seeping deeply
Into my chin
Wreaking havoc on my complexion

The snow said it missed you
While you were away
The flakes faked rebellion
Invited your gaze
In the blazing warmth of January

But don't you miss the dull winter air?
Don't you miss the white wind
Whipping your hair?

While the frost nite my nose
You're off in a dream
Of a place with no frozen tongues
And you forgot your mug,
But it'll still steam
On this frozen January morning

And hope stays awake
With a sliver of warmth
Inviting legs to March
And still we can see
The day we'll replant our garden

But don't you miss the dull winter air?
Don't you miss the white wind
Whipping your hair?

While the frost nite my nose
You're off in a dream
Of a place with no frozen tongues
And you forgot your mug,
But it'll still steam
On this frozen January morning
